Educational Background
I completed my Doctor of Medicine degree at [Sapienza University of Rome], followed by the completion of my residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the [Department of Maternal and Child Health and Urological Sciences, Sapienza University of Rome]. I am currently a PhD candidate in Human Biology and Medical Genetics at the [Department of Experimental Medicine, Sapienza University of Rome], and a Clinical Research Fellow at the [Nuffield Department of Women’s and Reproductive Health, University of Oxford], jointly supervised by Prof. Ana IL Namburete and Prof. Aris Papageorghiou. I am generously funded by the [Gates Foundation].
Research interests
My academic and clinical interests include Fetal Medicine, particularly the diagnosis and management of cardiac, growth and brain anomalies, with a specific focus on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to ultrasound technology. I have been involved in the CAIFE project in collaboration with Prof. Aris Papageorghiou and [the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME)], exploring the use of AI applied to prenatal ultrasound to detect fetal cardiac abnormalities, with the aim of developing assistive tools for sonographers and clinicians.
Current projects
My current work, under the supervision of Prof. Aris Papageorghiou, involves clinical research projects. I am still working in the CAIFE project, but also supporting a Phase III research programme in collaboration with Prof. Ana IL Nambureteand the Oxford Machine Learning in NeuroImaging (OMNI) Lab to test and validate a point-of-care ultrasound pipeline for volumetric fetal brain assessment. My research at the University of Oxford allows me to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams with experts in Fetal and Maternal Medicine, Fetal Cardiology and Engineering science
